hello all!

this will serve as a sort of new media, metalsmithing, glass working tips and tricks, what’s new at the studio and upcoming exhibition info journal.

i am currently experimenting with various types of glass and how they react with metal foils and i am hugely excited to say that i’ve been setting up an electroforming area in my studio! i was given a 25amp rectifier over the holidays, conductive paint, tanks, and everything else necessary to start growing metal onto organic objects, and glass.
very exciting.

january’s beginning jewelry classes are full and the march classes are starting to fill as well-so if you are interested i suggest signing up soon!
february’s intro 2 still has some spaces left so get in while ya can this class will be fun with the hydraulic press and chain making!!

Next door to Harbord and Grace’s cyberphile Linuxcaffe (coding and a cappuccino, anyone?), jewellery artist Tosca Teran has opened her Nanopod Studio and Gallery (322a Harbord, 647-219-0585, http://www.nanopod.tv). She displays a collection of technology-inspired jewellery under clear mini-biosphere domes and offers eight-week classes on working with silver, gold and enamel.

11/1/05: Guerrilla Casting Workshop
Learn to make a piece of silver jewelry* in one day for FREE!
8 student max! This workshop will focus on the carving and casting of small objects using cuttlefish bone molds.
Saturday November 12th from noon to 5pm
Objects will be cast in sterling silver.
All materials will be supplied.
Workshop attendants will carve their own piece of cuttlebone and have the option of purchasing their casting or not.
casting(s) will be weighed and available at $1.00 per gram.
