Something happened on the day he died. Spirit rose a meter, and then stepped aside…Shedding tears throughout his exhibit at the AGO. Shedding smiles, and skin throughout the years listening to his music. His words.
It is a rarity to live during a time of such creative force, outpouring.
Conjuring.
I feel like one of the lucky ones; to have listened to his music since the 70’s, attended many performances, and to have had the opportunity to view his large, multidisciplinary body of work (twice!) at the AGO. While I never met DB personally- I have met and spoken with Brian Eno so, okay not the same but closer to the creative source.
A great disturbance is felt throughout our collective dna/consciousness (fan or not- this one being influenced the art world huge) and now the world can indeed end. Because what are we to do now?
I feel extreme heart crushing sorrow, promise and that the gauntlet was thrown. While I doubt any 1 human will meet that challenge this century… perhaps come time & healing a (r)evolutionary creative force will enter the human sphere once again.
That all said, musically speaking unless something new hits the Human sphere, and I mean utterly, transformationally, inspiring artists for years to come new. This new form may manifest in a different medium.Blackstar is a powerful album. DB knew, and was gracious enough, and strong enough to say “…Farewell, I am returning home.”
Thank you Great I am. At the centre of it all.
